WordPress comes stock setup as a blog system, with the front page containing your latest blog posts. However, following the steps below you can set WordPress up to have a static front page.
Setup Static Front Page
To set a create WordPress page to be the front page of your site, first you will need to create one. If you have not done so already, follow the steps in our How to Add A New Page training.
Once you have a page setup you wish to use as the front page, hover over Settings in the menu bar on the left hand side of the dashboard. From the flyout menu which appears, click Reading.
The top section of the Reading Settings page sets your front page display, either to show your latest posts (default setting) or as a static page. Select “A static page” and choose the front page from the dropdown next to Front page.
Note: You can also set a static posts page, which will show all blog posts previously showing on the front page.
Click Save Changes. The page you have chosen to use as your front page will now show when you visit http://example.com
